I was a student of Mr. Globocnik´s at Machebeuf High School and took Latin classes with him from 1975-1979. Inspired by his teaching, I took a full four years -- just for the joy of translating and the enthusiasm that Mr. Globocnik brought to class! I served as President of the Latin Club my senior year and participated in the regional Latin Convention held in Estes Park. I even came home with a blue ribbon in Prose Reading, thanks to his excellent teaching and coaching. His funeral...

Mr. Globocnik had perhaps the most profound effect on my life of any teacher I ever had. While most of us imitated his eccentricities and had a few good laughs at his expense, one could not help but respect the man. I remember him listening to me and talking with me for hours after school as I talked about my struggles in life at the time. And I remember that he nominated me for an officers position in the Latin Club without my knowledge. I didn't even know about it until he announced in...

I took two Latin classes from Mr. Globocnik at Machebeuf and thought him one of the cutest, sweetest teachers I'd ever known. He was brilliant and kind, and he will be missed.

I never took a class from Mr. Globocnik, but I knew him to be an inspiration to his students, and a cornerstone to the Machebeuf faculty... he will be missed... now all the angels will be fluent in Latin!

He taught me this phrase:
"Noli te illegitimus carborundum."
when I looked him up, years after graduation, when I was seeking this specific phrase with an eye for detail,
so I could cast it into a bronze belt-buckle in one of Mines' metallurgy labs.
I don't even remember where I sat in his class, but I'm certain it wasn't on the right side of the room.

I remember Latin class so well - Mr. Globocnik telling us we had to work hard every every day. He made a lasting impression on me as a fine person and a fine teacher - thank you.

I always enjoyed Mr. Globocnik's German class. He had such a wonderful way with everyone. Even when he was frustrated. He was always encouraging everyone to be 'diligent!' in their work ethics. I enjoyed his stories of his life and send all my condolences for his loss. He was a great man and I was blessed to know and learn from him.

Very gentle and dedicated teacher who gave his all to teach his beloved subjects to us. He made a far deeper impact on his students than he probably ever realized. When he quit calling me "doktor" and started calling me "senator" I knew I was talking too much off topic.
