I just learned of Marty's passing. I had lost his phone # and wanted to reach out because we haven't talked in a while, so I googled and saw this obituary. Marty was the 1st friend I met when as a 7th grader my family moved to north Dallas from a south Dallas neighborhood. Our friendship continued through high school and on to college and after. Second only to the passing of a mother or a father, or a sister or a brother is the passing of your very dearest friend. Each one of his legion of friends considered Marty as their best friend. He loved and was loved in return by his childhood friends, his collage fraternity brothers, his teammates, his business colleagues, his tennis, fishing, golfing, poker, boy's night out crowd, his lunch buddies, and his backgammon friends. Marty was everything mentioned in this beautiful eulogy and more. I treasure our friendship from high school and later years, connected forever by my brother Bubba Kirk, his HHS classmate. Marty was so generous to host a special reunion party With their favorite classmates since Bubba could not attend their others from Florida.
