One of the nicest individuals I have had the pleasure of knowing in my lifetime. As a new 6th floor clothing manger at Brooks Brothers Madison Ave, in 1990, I had the good fortune of being in Martins presence, and learned much. Not only lessons in clothing manufacturing, but life lessons, relationship lessons, people skills, he was always teaching. Every time I saw Martin, that huge smile of his was how he greeted you, at his factory it was always with an offer of breakfast first, then...

One pleasure of being a buyer for Brooks Brothers were my trips to Brooklyn to meet with Martin. He was a joy to be around and learn from. What impressed me was his true interest in what you had to say as well. My sincere condolences to his sons. He left this world a better place, may he Rest in peace. Respectfully, Jerry Tirotta

It was my good fortune to work with Martin from 2006 until 2010. I was the General Manager of Brooks Brothers´ downtown Los Angeles store: in a town where the famous and infamous roam freely: he was the Master Tailor from the East Coast they wanted to consult during his `twice annual´, `limited engagement´ appearances´, also known as the Made to Measure in-store events. At our first meeting, he sensed my eagerness mixed with nervousness. Pulling me aside and `stage whispering´...

My father had the pleasure of working for Martin until he had a heart attack and could no longer work. My dad passed 11 years ago and until he passed he always spoke very highly of Martin and loved his job. My dad took so much pride in his work and came home many times telling tales of who had come into the "shop" for measurements or fittings. I remember one story where he told us how he was working on a tails tuxedo for Pavorotti and the fabric was a mixture of wool and mink. My father was...

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Greenfield at Brooks Brothers in Chicago on Michigan Avenue. I worked in the made-to-measure. Mr. Greenfield taught me how to sell fabrics for suits. He was very professional, and the garments were tailored to perfection. I will never forget the time Mr. Greenfield took one of my customers who was ninety years old, put him in the fitting room, and personally fitted him in one of his suits off the rack. He was very kind. The customer's daughter bought the...

We have just learned of Martin's passing... Our thoughts and prayers are with the family - and, of course, his many, many friends. It was a true honor to have known Martin - and an even greater honor to have called him a friend. We are profoundly sorry not to be with you in person tomorrow. We have tried, unsuccessfully, to fly home in time. Fortunately we learned we can at least attend via live stream. I (me speaking) am typing this with tears in my eyes. John and I remember, so...
