One of the nicest individuals I have had the pleasure of knowing in my lifetime. One pleasure of being a buyer for Brooks Brothers were my trips to Brooklyn to meet with Martin. He was a joy to be around and learn from. My father had the pleasure of working for Martin until he had a heart attack and could no longer work. My dad passed 11 years ago and until he passed he always spoke very highly of Martin and loved his job. My dad took so much pride in his work and came home many times telling tales of who had come into the "shop" for measurements or fittings. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Greenfield at Brooks Brothers in Chicago on Michigan Avenue. I worked in the made-to-measure. Mr. Greenfield taught me how to sell fabrics for suits. He was very professional, and the garments were tailored to perfection. I will never forget the time Mr. Greenfield took one of my customers who was ninety years old, put him in the fitting room, and personally fitted him in one of his suits off the rack. We have just learned of Martin's passing... Our thoughts and prayers are with the family - and, of course, his many, many friends. It was a true honor to have known Martin - and an even greater honor to have called him a friend. We are profoundly sorry not to be with you in person tomorrow.
