Marty, It was a pleasure knowing you and watching you champion constituent-focused issues for the citizens of Jackson, MI. As a state representative, your fervent and passionate defense of our state constitution and our civil rights will always be remembered. Thank you for your service to the city of Jackson and the state of Michigan. Rest in peace, Mr. Mayor.

Marty was my friend, and I will miss him!

Sending comfort to Marty's family. I knew him from his volunteering behind the counter at the Michigan Theatre while I was teaching The JCC Winter Film Series. We discovered we both enjoyed novels by the same Irish author.

To all the Griffin family, we are so sorry for your loss, Marty was such a kind, thoughtful guy. We always looked forward to his visits to Ireland. He was always up for the craic and we all have great memories of Marty. He will be sadly missed. May he rest in peace.

Janet, so sorry to hear of your son´s passing. I didn´t know him but knowing you he must have been a wonderful person. My prayers are with you.

From the day I moved in next door to Marty, he was a good friend and neighbor to me. He will be missed.

I am so sorry for Marty's passing. I loved knowing and working with Marty on political campaigns and causes, and making Jackson better. I don't think I've known a person more purely committed to his community and its people. He was earnestly and authentically warm and compassionate, but always in a quiet way. I loved Marty for his principles and values, and I am so sad that his life was cut short. My condolences go to Janet and all of his siblings, family, and friends.
