Not sure what to say?

Mr. Hammond was one of my favorite teachers. I had him for Chemistry and Calculus. He had a deep rough voice that could lull me to sleep. When I said something about this to him, he just laughed and said his voice had that affect on some people. He was a really great teacher and I loved all my classes with him.

I know my grandpa touched so many with his kindness and always saw the best of people from my perspective. He was one of the greatest teachers of life I could have imagined. Whether it's through the mistake of having him help me with homework or teaching me how to drive, or the meaning of a hard days work. You could count on him to do anything with a kind and open heart. Without his guidance and understanding I know my life and many others would be different than it was. He will always...

I read all of the kind thoughts that have been written. My Dad was a very special kind of human being. Not because he was Dad but because of what taught and showed those around him. He was my best friend next to my wife and children. He showed me how to see things that cannot be seen and sounds that would otherwise be missed. I will never miss Marty because he will always be near. I have not shed a tear but will never stop crying. He was special. Hopefully today Mom and Dad are flying...

Dr Hammon was one of the best teachers ever! He was kind and patient with those of us who were mathematically challenged. He will always be a vivid treasured memory for me. The best.

Marty was a great teacher, friend, and person. He really lived his life and his life was one interesting, exciting adventure. Marty enjoyed his friends and was a friend to everyone. He was a caring, kind man and left the world a bit better.

Sending hugs and prayers to Barbara, Bob and Mike and all of your family. Your dad was a special man and good friend. He made a difference in so many lives.

Mr. Hammon was an amazing teacher of life and the world is better because he roamed around. Three memories: 1. He loved the mountains, even though their were none in Dowagiac. He would look to the sky, smile and dream when the "m" word was mentioned. 2. He was enthusiastic about entropy and spoke about its beauty. 3. He never wore a coat. I now love mountains, believe in the power of entropy and often go coatless. He was quite possibly the all time best teacher and his positivity...

RIP Marty. My condolences to the family. I only worked with Marty a few years before he retired but you knew he was a well respected educator.
