Not sure what to say?

Dr. Heitzman was my neurologist many years ago. He was a man who showed great compassion, reassurance, and inspired confidence to a young teenager looking at a diagnosis that could be life changing. His guidance and care allowed me to live my life as I had planned.

In retirement, I know none of it would have happened without the guidance of a truly caring and knowledgeable man as he.

Thank you Doc!

The world suffered a loss when you passed away.

My father Archer D. Huott was also a neurologist in the US Army and served as Chief of Neurology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC, before moving to California in 1980. I remember as a child hearing about "Marti", one of my dad's colleagues and friends. I followed in their footsteps and I am a practicing neurologist in San Diego. I recently saw a patient with the same last name and it spiked a memory about Dr. Heitzman. Sad to hear of his passing. My dad passed...

Martin, you're right, it was 40 years ago, not 50, when we enjoyed the movie "Cabaret" together. Sorry. My very best wishes to Nuala and the kids. Keep a close eye on them. See you later.

So sorry to hear about Dr. Heitzman's passing. Your family was a big part of my life. I will never forget my time in Dublin with Nuala and Daragh. And my high school friends Mary and Gayle. So sorry I missed the service. You are in my heart.

Nuala, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that being surrounded by family and friends will bring you some comfort during this time. I will always remember Marty's sense of humor and life loving spirit. He will be missed.

Nuala, Daragh, Mary, Gael-What a wonderful "boss" and mentor your dad was to me-what a special place all of you have in the hearts of my family, my kids who grew up knowing Dr. H and Nuala-Byron and I love you all, you are in our prayers, Katy

I have known Marty for 19 years. I met him through my beloved husband, Michael Maros who is deceased. Marty ALWAYS made me laugh and he had this giggle and laughter that still resonates in my mind. I cried when I was told of his passing.

I loved Marty like a father, whom also gave me away at my wedding to Michael. Michael often called Marty "dad", because he always asked Marty, "So when are you paying for the wedding Dad?!" And both of them would laugh hysterically! Marty, I...

I met Marty 50 years ago when he was transferred from Walter Reed Medical Center to USAGHLandstul, Germany. We transferred to civilian life in El Paso and worked in the same building for years. He was the best friend I ever had. He always had a smile, a joke with his laugh that invited the world to join him. He was wise, super-intelligent, humble, for me at 5'4" a gentle giant. I can't wait to join him in the best heavenly pub God can provide. Herb McDonald

Dr. Heitzman was a welcoming, intelligent, and fun-loving dad. He was a role model to all of us as we were growing up. Yes, he will be sorely missed. He touched many hearts and his good humor and generosity knew no bounds. A prince of a man, indeed.
