Martin was a true gentleman, and he was fun to be around. He had a great imagination for creating new lettering styles. I have a lapel pin with his likeness at my bedside. Think of him often.

He looked up at me and said in his delightfully southern...

We all loved Martin, our caring teacher with a great sense of humor and an incredibly talented graphic designer. Our class 1980-81, had the best time with Martin and Vic Valla. How sad we were to see Martin leave to be a creative director in Connecticut, how happy we were when he married his wonderful Pat and how relieved we were...

Martin was a kind, thoughtful person who was an excellent craftsman in typography. His skills were amazing. He was beloved by his fellow faculty and his students. My condolences to his family.
