DECATUR - Martin Edward Hubbard, 46, of Decatur, IL, went to heaven peacefully on Monday, June 25th in his home with his constant companion, Lady III, at his side. Martin was born August 25, 1965 in Decatur, son of Mary Ann (John) Koucky and George (Evelyn) Hubbard. He graduated from St. Teresa High School and attended Quincy College. Martin lived and worked in the Decatur area his entire life. He will be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing, and walking with his dog on the river farm, but mostly for the friendships he made. Martin loved to grow vegetables and share the bounty of his labor with friends, neighbors, and family. His wealth in life consisted of family and friends. Martin leaves behind his mother, Mary Ann, and her husband, John Koucky, of Decatur, his father, George Hubbard and his wife, Evelyn, of Winnetka. Martin had three brothers, five sisters, eight step sisters, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles who will all miss him dearly. His surviving siblings are George (Nancy) Hubbard of O'Fallon, IL, (children – Matthew, Denise, Doug Scott, Susie), Cecilia (Kevin) Kehoe of Decatur, IL, (children – Martin and Michael), Dr. Tom (Suzanne) Hubbard of Virginia Beach, VA, (children – Nicholas and Natalie), Anne (Jim) Herzog of St. Louis, MO, (children – Alec and Erik), Sanford (Marcy) Hubbard of Decatur, IL, (children – Charlie, Ben and Luke), Peggy (John) McElravey of Charlotte, NC, (children – Jack, Joe, Patrick and Daniel), Julie Welch of Detroit, MI, (children – Alyssa (Eric) Nielson, Richard, and Jonathon), Kate (Steve) Marcinek of Palm Harbor, FL, (children – MaryAnn, Marie, Cecilia), and Dr. Debbie (Richard) Radasch of St. Louis, MO, (children – Faith and Amanda). Several surviving cousins, aunts and uncles were very close to Martin and are Mary (Harry) Flynn, Sheila Wolf, Leslie (Tim) McElroy, Mike (Christina) Hubbard, Sarah Locke, Nancy (Eben) Schaefer, Joan Wolf, and Jim Hubbard. Martin also leaves behind dear friends, Joe Devereux, Joe Handley and their families. Martin's dog and constant companion will live a good life in the country with another dear friend, Randy Wiggers. Martin's grandparents, an aunt, uncle and cousin preceded him in death. Visitation and celebration of Martin's life will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Rev. Richard Weltin, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or Decatur & Macon County Animal Shelter Foundation.
