Not sure what to say?

It was my great privilege to serve with Colonel Martin Johnson in the 357th Medical Detachment (Neurosurgery) during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. I am sorry to learn of his passing as the upcoming anniversary of that momentous event comes around again and I wondered what happened to our Commander. Martin was cool under fire and the tributes that I have read from his former patients speak to his dedication to patient care at that highest level. A great man!

Dr. Johnson saved my life as a new born. I was born with hydrocephalus and meningitis and when other doctors told my parents I only had 24 hours to live, he reassured and said he was going to do everything he could and that I would be ok! He did both my shunt surgery´s and my revision before kindergarten! And I am proud to say that, that shunt he placed lasted me 31 years, my new neurologist was so impressed.....all I could say was I had the best surgeon! I´m thriving and have 2 beautiful...

Martin was a hero in our life operating twice on our 3 and later 5 year old daughter Heather, the first being a 12 hour cranial pharyngiomal tumor surgery which had grown throughout her brain in 1987. She completed her Master Degree and is a woman with a wonderful heart. How we appreciated and loved him. We appreciate you as his family being willing to share him.

Dr, Martin Johnson was my surgeon and my savior from my birth in 1969 til i moved to Seattle in 1998, If it wasnt for him I would not be alive today. He used his daughters growth as mile stones for growing up. He'd always joked to my mom that i was either crawling. walking or talking BEFORE his daughter did those same things. When I was born in 1969 my parents were told by other Dr.'s that I would NEVER walk. speak, etc.. but Dr. Johnson along with my parents NEVER gave up on me and Im...

Thinking of Dad today on his 82nd birthday -- we miss you!

I am sorry that I do not know any of you personally nor did I ever get the chance to, but my name is Wendy Renee Berry. I was born in 1991 in Portland with a condition known as Craniosyntosis- in laymen's terms I was born with no soft-spots. Martin, God love Him, saved my life when I was just a few months old by conducting the surgery to repair my brain. I would not be alive today without Him. I just wish I could've pointed to him and said "That man saved my life." But I always know he did...

Dr. Johnson kept many nurses and doctors on their toes at Emanuel. When I was the manager of the ICU he was the chair of our ICU committee and he was a very caring and excellent surgeon for his patients. He and his wife sponsered a great ICU/ Neuro unit party at Shanigans one year for us. Many trauma patients, children and adults were lucky he was on the day or night he was the neurosurgeon. The best to his family from many of us who worked with Dr. Martin Johnson.

I always loved seeing him come on the floor. He was a great doctor. I liked taking care of his patients.
