An American Dream
Martin Morales moved from a small Mexican village to New York City three years ago, seeking the storybook American life. Living in a cramped basement apartment with a half-dozen relatives in Elmhurst, Queens, he scoured Spanish-speaking newspapers for jobs, working here and there until about a year ago, when he landed a job as an assistant chef at Windows on the World, said his brother, Gonzalo Morales.

The picturesque views of Lady Liberty and Governors Island allowed Martin Morales, 22, to reflect daily on the mission ahead of him. He wanted to learn English and earn enough money to build a house in the countryside back home, his brother said.

His 9-year-old niece, Diana Narvaiz, said she will miss playing soccer with her uncle and his sense of humor. "He would always say he was going to Mexico," she said. "It was funny because he was really going to work or the store."

As I stitched your name on the memorial that I am doing for all of the victims, I prayed for you and your family. Please know that your death was not in vain. We will always remember. God Bless.

To the Family of Martin
I am sorry for your loss of such young man. While watching the horror of that Tuesday Morning, I prayed for all the people who were trapped in the towers. I know that GOD is with Martin and that he is watching over his family.
You must keep living and never forget Martin!
GOD BLESS YOU!!

Thank you for coming to America and helping us be the best we can be. We miss you and wish you could have lived out all of your dreams. Peace and love.

So very young. We are very sorry for your loss of Martin. Our hearts cry with you.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless...
