Martin-Posey-Obituary

Martin R. Posey

Obituary

POSEY, Martin R. March 28, 1927 to April 27, 2009, of Chesterfield. Martin wrote the following and requested it be used for his obituary. I would like to thank God for all these years of health, happiness and especially good friends. Knowing how much I disliked attending funerals (for many reasons) the one last thing I can do for my friends is not to have one. I would prefer to be remembered in life rather than death. So hoping to see you at sometime in the future, I will say goodbye for now. He was predeceased by his wife, Betsy Winfield Posey; and son, Michael Dewees Posey. He is survived by his son, Rucker Posey of Chesterfield County; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Betty Posey of Floyds Knob, Indiana; two grandsons, Charles Posey of Henderson, Ky. and Marshall Posey of Richmond, Va.; and beloved companion, Clare Campbell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 26384, Richmond, Va. 23286

Not sure what to say?

I was saddened to hear of the passing of my "Uncle Martin". Best remembered by me as a fun loving gregarious man. He loved to fly and tinker with things and treated me with great kindness in my childhood.

My condolences to my cousin Rucker and his family, on the passing of his father.

Dear Mr Martin R. Posey, Immediate Family Members and His Friends,

This is the most heart felt OBITUARY I have ever read in my life. Mr. Posey's personal touch has the calming effect on my heart and soul.

I personally have never met him but this man must have been a great man in life.

Mr. Posey's philosophy of life is one that we should all remember.

For you Mr. Posey,

May the wind always be at your back
And the Sun upon your...

I did not know Mr. Posey nor his family. I read the obituary and I have to say, this sounded like a man that was loving, caring and with no doubt not selfish in the least.

My condolences go out to the family, Mr. Posey gave the best advise, "remember me in life".
