Read MoreMarty lived just down the hall from me at Smith Hall. We were dorm neighbors for all 4 years. Marty had the most amazing power of concentration I've ever seen. With a beer in one hand and chaos all around him, he could focus on whatever he was reading unperturbed.

Marty and I became friends as teenage counsellors at Bement Center Camp. I will never forget him telling scary stories around a campfire. He was a mentor to me, a true leader, and an amazing man.

Marty was a long time neighbor, friend and family. Over the years he joined us for many family gatherings. We enjoyed his dry witty sense of humor. He will be missed. Our sympathy goes out to his family whom he spoke of, especially his grandchildren. May he rest in peace.
