I first met "Marty" when he and his parents moved to Guemes Island during our junior year at Anacortes High School. We were never close friends, but everybody liked Marty. He was such an affable, approachable guy, with a smile that just wouldn't quit. Over the years, I would run into him every once in a while, and he always had time to stop, talk and share a smile.
