I have many, many fond memories of Martin Tunney, going back to some of my very earliest childhood memories. He was always a familiar fixture around my house and my grandparents' house. In many ways he was like an uncle.
While he was typically curmudgeonly and opinionated with a cutting wit and great laugh, it was his kind and thoughtful tenderness toward my younger brother and me after our mother died, that endeared me to Martin.
