I've known Marty Whitman for over 50 years. (Wow, that really dates us doesn't it, Karen!) He was always the nicest dad with the driest sense of humor (which we finally appreciated as we grew older) and a high level of patience for the pack of kids we ran around with on Colonial Avenue. I will remember him most for letting us use all kinds of glamorous wigs and hair accessories to get dolled up for the bar and bat mitzvahs we went to every weekend.
