Not sure what to say?

Sadly, I just learned of his death today..when I Googled him as I was writing him a letter. Years ago I worked as his secretary at the Harvard Health Center. He was a great doctor and a good friend whom I lost touch with after I left to pursue my education and career as a professor at Stanford. Now I am trying to write a memoir and was talking about my time with him. A sweet and generous soul.

I was saddened to hear just lately of Dr. Wohl's passing on my home Island of Cape Breton. My deepest condolences to Laura and Alex and their families, Hector and Hugh MacMaster.

Bonnie and I were most pleased and proud to be summer time neighbors of Mary Ellen and Martin along John Angus Lane on Cape Breton Island these past forty years. It was always a delight to learn of their interesting travels as well as having many opportunities to discuss our latest berry-picking expeditions and where the next fiddle-fest might be. We will look back fondly on many shared evenings in our respective homes and hope that the Wohl family presence on John Angus Lane will continue...

Martin "prescribed" music for the flu and other ailments: I'd describe my symptoms and he'd say "Bach" or "Mozart." Once when I'd called in utter misery from the flu he said "I have it too" and when I said "'what are you doing for it?" he said, "self-pity."

Martin, I will never forget the way you [and Mary Ellen] always made me feel like one of the family. Your warmth, humor, and generosity were boundless and I'm remarkably blessed to have known you. May you rest in peace with your beloved, forever enjoying what you loved most. With sincere love and deepest gratitude and respect...

Martin's career was exemplary but we were 'pals' when he came to St Paul. We reigned as eldest inlaws. I really miss my friend.
