Not sure what to say?

Dear Jutta and family,
It is interesting to see from the Guest Book how many lives Martin touched with his kindness, intelligence and interest in others. I have such good memories of our time together in Kazakstan and I'm so glad we all kept in touch after that.

With warmest good wishes for you at this difficult time,

Fondly,
Molly McGrath

I have just known Marty for a short period of time, but I will always remember the most interesting areas where we interfaced. Only recently I joined SCORE, but will always remember his guidance and his dedication.

Please accept my prayers and deepest sympathy at this time of sorrow.

Warmest regards

I first met Marty when he was a responsible member of the Keller B29 crew in Alamagordo in 1944. In more recent years we renewed our acquaintance when he visited in California and introduced us to his wife Jutta and daughter Mariko. This friendship has been much valued and I will miss having a contact with him. He was a fine man and I know his family will truly miss him. May God keep them in His hand. Sincere regards, Burdella Keller Downing

Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.

To Jutta, Mariko, Martha, Susan and Peter:

Please accept my profound sorrow and deepest sympathies over the death of Marty. I know you will miss him greatly. I feel so fortunate to have known him. His stories gave me a human connection to my own late father, Chris Nikitas, Marty's B-29 crewmate and good friend. I learned firsthand from Marty about the wartime experiences that helped to shape my dad, who died at 45, before he himself could tell me these stories. Not only did I...

To the Family of Martin Zapf, please accept our deepest condolences. I’ll always remember meeting Martin for the first time at Uncle Ludwig & Aunt Minna’s house when he was in the Army and I was about ten years old. They were so proud of him. And years later at Uncle Eric’s parties, more memories. Martin used to visit my mother at the shore often after my father died. How she looked forward to those visits. I’ll never forget the last time Martin and Jutta came down to visit Helen and I and we...

Dear Jutta and family,
It is with a feeling of great sadness we write to you on this occasion. We knew Martin as a truly fine gentleman and we share in your loss. May you be comforted in the knowledge the world is a far better place for his having been here.
