She taught African-American literature at Mohamed V University in Rabat, Morocco in 1989 while on sabbatical where she also helped organize a student exchange with UWM. She and her colleague Anthony Ciccone wrote the French textbook Teletexte in the 1990s using some of the information she collected in Morocco. As late as February of this year, she was teaching a class for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. She has also sponsored and participated in field trips in the Milwaukee Public Schools for the last twenty five years. Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie L. Martine was the kindest, the most worm hearted hearted person I have ever known. She was a good listener and most knowlegeable but very humble, a very loved and very loving human being. I will always remember her dearly.

Martine is constantly in my thoughts, actions, and heart. The time spent with her in Milwaukee included conversations, concerts, grand cuisine, and much more. I have always remembered her insistence upon my completing the DMA and her insight into navigating academic life. She was the queen of mentorship. Thanks to Stephanie and Kensa as well for making me part of the extended family.

Stephanie,
I just saw this notice and wanted to extend my sympathies. Your mom was a wonderful person and someone I always looked up to as a French lover-of-everything.

I missed this notice and therefore missed her funeral. I was lucky to meet Mrs. Meyer and drive her to visit her ex-husband just before he passed away. What a remarkable and interesting woman.

Rest in peace Martine. I'm terribly sad that I didn't get there to visit you before the end. Big hugs to Kenza and Stephanie, you have family thinking of you in Canada.
