Marty Mae Alvarez

June 24, 1970 -- Oct. 3, 2009

A memorial celebration of life will be held for Marty Mae Alvarez, 39, of Myrtle Point, at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at the Church of the Nazarene, 1545 Maple St., in Myrtle Point. Pastor Wayne Harman will officiate.

Marty was born June 24, 1970, in Coquille, to Richard H. and Willie Marjane (Davis) Downs. She died Oct. 3, 2009, in Coos Bay.

Marty lived most of her life in Quitman, Ark. She moved to Broadbent to attend Myrtle Point High School. Marty then moved to Salem, where she graduated with honors from Business and Careers Technical Institute. She worked in Salem until the diagnosis of her illness. She then moved to Myrtle Point to be closer to her family.

Marty is survived by her son, Danny Lee Chamley of Sacremento, Calif.; daughter, Maranda Marjane Chamley of Myrtle Point; stepson, Jesse Lee Chamley of Chico, Calif.; stepdaughter, Tina Marie and Gary Arndt of Everett, Wash.; special companion dog, Mya Mia Alvarez of Myrtle Point; brothers, Richard, John, Patrick and Mike; and sisters, Karen, Margie, Brenda and Becky.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 31 W Sixth St., Medford, OR 97501.

Arrangements are under the direction of Myrtle Grove Funeral Service, 396-3150.
