We are cousins from Detroit that just found out today Marva passed and are devastated. Her Mother and ours were first cousins.

The family are in my prayers. Ms Stewart was a great teacher. She really was one of a kind. R.I.P.

Marva was truly a refined and dignified gentlewoman whose life was not lived in vain. Her calm, humble, unassuming demeanor belied the tenacity of the teacher who fervently challenged others to move beyond mediocrity to greatness. During our many years on the faculty at Paine College, she never hesitated to serve as mentor, consultant, or advisor whenever I needed her expertise or assistance with projects or programs. Ms.Marva was truly a blessing! She always had a kind word of encouragement everyday as we worked together at Paine! My children and I loved her and our lives were made all the better because of her kind spirit and words of praise! She was loved by all and will truly be missed!
