Marvin E. Bontrager

Marvin E. Bontrager, age 73 of Nappanee, IN, died at 7:47 pm on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at his residence.  Marvin was born on July 22, 1952 in Three Rivers, MI to Ezra J. and Marie Catherine (Bontrager) Bontrager.  On May 18, 1972, Marvin married Alma L. Miller in Nappanee.  He lived most of his life in the Nappanee area and was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.  Marvin is survived by his wife, Alma L. Bontrager of Nappanee; 7 children: LaVern (Kathryn) Bontrager of Nappanee, Edna (John) Borkholder of Bremen, IN, Freeman (Hannah) Bontrager of Nappanee, Ruby (Joas) Schmucker of Wakarusa, IN, Marion (Shannah) Bontrager of Bremen, Leon (Ruth) Bontrager of Nappanee, and Johnny (Susan) Bontrager of Wakarusa; 33 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; 6 siblings: Lydia (Harvey) Hochstetler of Colen, MI, William (Rosanna) Bontrager of Leonidas, MI, Sylvia (Marvin) Yoder of Colen, MI, Miriam (Orvin) Bontrager of Sturgis, MI, Freeman (Ella Mae) Bontrager of Sturgis, MI, and Marie (Allen) Yoder of Colen, MI.  Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Regina Bontrager; and 2 infant siblings, Vernon and Wilma Bontrager.  Visitation will be held after 5 pm Sunday, August 17, 2025 and all-day Monday, August 18, 2025 at the Leon Bontrager Residence (28871 CR 50, Nappanee, IN, 46550).  A funeral service will begin at 9:30 am on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, also at the Leon Bontrager Residence.  Bishop Lonnie Kauffman will officiate along with the home ministers of the Old Order Amish Church.  Burial will take place in Weldy Cemetery, Nappanee.
