Marvin Branch Obituary

Marvin Noel Branch, age 82, daughter of the late Joseph Wirt Hamilton and Josephine Houser Hamilton, was born January 11, 1939 in Newport News, Virginia. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 7, 2022. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church for many years, where she sang in the choir and assisted with the Soup Kitchen. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Benjamin F. Branch Sr. of Hampton, Virginia; five sons, Ben Jr., Mark, Stephen, Brian (Carol) and Wayne, an adopted son and daughter, Lowell and Laurestine of the Bahamas, two sisters, Sue and Agatha (James) and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Noel was a graduate of George P. Phenix High School where she met her husband of 64 years. While in high school, she was a Safety Patrol, voted New Homemakers of America, sang in the choir, and won first place at a Virginia State singing competition.

She gave her life to Jesus Christ over 40 years ago. She was a strong and dedicated Christian who always put her Saviour first and foremost in her life, followed by her husband and children. She had a servant's heart - always selflessly and sacrificially giving her all to serve and give to others in need.

Noel worked primarily as a homemaker but also worked outside the home as a Hampton Police Officer, Hampton School Crossing Guard, and as a Day Care worker. She was known as the neighborhood mom, had a beautiful voice, loved to sing, and had a gift of poetry inspired by the Lord.

We are sorry to hear of the passing of one of the sweetest and nicest people that the lord put on this earth. We would have over the fence talks about everything going on in the world today and the old times. She would sometimes give us fresh vegetables from her garden as she definitely had a green thumb. We will miss our over the fence friend. Rest in peace. Sam and Jane Skinner

I extend my sincere condolences to the Branch and Hamilton families. The Hamilton lived a couple of doors (612 Kentucky Avenue) from our home(616 Kentucky Avenue). That is a great picture of Marvin. May God provide the Branch and Hamilton the strength that they need during their time of bereavement.
