Not sure what to say?

I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER AS A VERY DEAR FRIEND, AND WISHED I'D VISITED MORE OFTEN.

Marvin : Thank you for opening my mind and eyes as much as you did. I look back at your teaching and I see the wisdom and genius that you had and used. " Class, say nothing as I show you a selection of pictures first. Then I will show theme again and at that time we can talk . " : ) The sounds that were heard still bring laughter to me . It was that good. Sir, Please stay with me .

Winifred Hoshino was a grade school friend (P.S. 125 in the Bronx). She lived a few doors away, so we´d have lunch at her house, when her sweet mother would always read aloud to us: Charlotte´s Web, Stuart Little, the Heidi books, etc. At that time, Marvin was just the annoying little brother (already more than aware of his self-worth!) I treasure all those sweet memories.

I am a childhood friend of Marvin, and I'm so sorry I didn't visit with him more often. He was my teacher of photography in the basement of his parent's home in the Bronx. I will always remember those welcoming visits with Marv and his sister, Winnie. They were very special!! I will miss Marv!

He was one of my teachers at Pratt in the early '70s, always very interesting.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Professor Hoshino. As my mentor at Queens College, he profoundly shaped my journey as a graphic designer. Marvin had a unique ability to see potential in his students and push them beyond their limits. The lessons he imparted and the inspiration he provided have stayed with me throughout my career. Marvin's legacy will live on through the countless students he mentored and inspired. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends. My...

Professor Hoshino will ALWAYS be remembered. He is unforgettable. His legacy lives on.

We were fortunate to have known Marvin both in his role as "collaborator" and friend to Helen Levitt, and as an invaluable consultant to our work with Milt Hinton's color photographs. Our sympathy to Marvin's family, friends, and colleagues.

Marvin taught me at Queens College when I didn´t even know what commercial art was. He taught me to always have a reason for everything I put on a page. Why this shape, why that color. Things I still go by at this stage of my career. I happened to google him and realized I never got a chance to thank him. Thank you and rest in power, Mr Hoshino.
