Not sure what to say?

I met Marvin at Anderson College in the early 60’s. We both found ourselves there for reasons not typically chosen by college students. Marvin had been working in Chicago and had learned he would be drafted unless he was on a college student deferment; and for me, Anderson was the only out of state school my very protective parents would consent to pay for. We, along with a few other “misfits” didn’t exactly match the typical Anderson College student profile, so we hung out in the art...

Marvin, what an amazing professor, I loved his untraditional style. He was the first to praise my nailed-studded silver painted bra, and to tell me how much my drawings suck. I adored his honesty and truely enjoyed the conversations we have had.

It is wonderful how only during my college years we crossed paths, but he made a profound mark in my life as a person. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to meet him.

Those of us at the Harris Stanton Gallery in Akron were very saddened to learn of Marvin's death. We hosted several shows for him, the most recent being just two years ago. In addition to loving his artwork, we also enjoyed Marvin's keen wit and wry sense of humor. We always looked forward to his visits and we're saddened to realize that we won't be seeing him walk through our doors any more.

Marvin was a good friend and on of the first art authorities to praise my creations and encourage me.
He had a sardonic sense of humor that was "way out" but devastating. I miss him and will never forget him and his part in my life.

To the Jones Family, I am sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of taking printmaiking at CSU in the early-mid 90's with Marvin. He was an excellent educator who challenged his students to think creatively. He had a great sense of humor. I'll always remember our classes end of the quater clean-up/pot luck parties and your cool tennis shoes!!!

Marvin, shortened name for 'Marvellous One': Artist accomopli, Professor, quipster-styled Philosopher, Rapier-witted Instructor - this man was one of a kind. A phenomenol individual with that rugged but dry humor. He'd a rare ability to insult without malice, condescend without insult, retort without reaction, like a surgeon extracting without pain. That monotone delivery of his was sheer anastetic. His students loved him, though all subjected to his verbal 'incisions'.
Extremely...

Marvin will be truly missed as our next door neighbor and as a delightful person we had the pleasure of knowing. He had the strangest sense of humor that could make me laugh even when I wasn't in a laughing mood. To his dear Mother, his sons, Cathy and his dear friend Cindy , you are in our thoughts and Prayers.
