We just learned tonight(6-28) of Marvin's death. We are so sorry that we were unable to attend the calling hours or funeral. He was a great friend to us during our ministry in Cleveland.

Our heart-felt condolences go out to the Smith family.
During the time we knew Rev. Smith, he was truly a Christian; in all the sense of the word. We will miss him and his ministry.

Marvin & Linda are wonderful people, who together, have made a big difference in the lives of hundrededs of people in inner city Cleveland. Marvin will be sorely missed by his family, friends and community. Our prayers go out to the family from the Mount Vernon Nazarene University Alumni Association, Mount Vernon, OH.

I learned of the loss of your husband and brother through the MVNU Alumni office. I graduated with Marvin in 1983 and remember him kindly as a wonderful classmate with a sincere desire to serve the Lord and be in the center of God's will for his life. I believe that he lived out his heart's desire and daily put into action our college motto "To Seek to Learn is to Seek to Serve." What a legacy of selflessness and service!!! Marvin touched my life and encouraged me so much in my walk with God. I will miss you, but look forward to our meeting again in Heaven!

Some people are aquaintences, others touch your heart so deeply that they are life long friends, no matter how long you have known them. We will truly miss him and I thank God for his ministry and all the things that he shared with us. Will continue to serve, just as Marvin did, and will pray for his family as they have loved him even more. God will give you the comfort that you need. Love to all.

Marvin, a true, true, man of God. What a wonderful man and a valued friend, we shall miss him terribly. Linda,Phillip,& Josh were his life. The family has our deepest sympathy.
