Dr. Marvin L. Yates Sr.

Dr. Yates was a very kind and supportive individual as well as a visionary leader. I am just learning of his transition and find it difficult to believe that, at this point in time, he´s been gone for five years. Lesson here is stay connected to the people you care about: don´t let geography/distance create a gulf between you. My belated sympathy is extended to his family. Rest in peace, my dear college Dean! Chancellor Yates made such an impact to my life. I remember him reaching out to ask why I was not in school. I was an honor student, but just did not have enough money. He told me to come see him and I did. He asked me how much money did I have and allowed me to take a portion to put on tuition, a portion on books and he deferred the rest. Because of his care and concern, I got back in school, relayed the money over time, graduated Cum Laude and am now an Executive at General Motors. I...
