Mary Ann McLain Allen, 85, passed away on December 18, 2018 in Fort Worth.
Memorial Visitation: 2 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook, 76126.
Mary Ann was born in Hillsboro, Texas on December 29, 1932, the daughter of Otis and Rachel McLain and sister to brothers, Maurice, John and Roger McLain. She graduated from Hillsboro High at age 15, in 1947, and later earned a master’s degree in psychology from The University of North Texas in Denton. In 1952 she was wed to Richard Edward Allen from Denton until his death in 2015. Mary Ann and Richard moved to Benbrook in 1957 and lived there the remainder of their lives.
Mary Ann had a love for many genres of music including: Classical, International, Big Band and Bossa Nova. She loved film and British Comedy. Mary Ann was a patron of The Fort Worth Zoo, Fort Worth Symphony, PBS Television, KERA Radio and The World Wildlife Fund. She will be remembered for her wit, humor, kindness and broad-scope of knowledge.
Survivors: Her three children, Julia McLain Echols, Gregory Allen and Daniel Allen; and her grandchildren, Rachel King Barker, Jacob Zachary King, and Amber Allen Hardin.
