Mary Ann Lederer

Mary Ann and I got to know each other through Farm Sanctuary some years ago. Immediately I felt we were kindred spirits and was drawn into her beautiful paintings. They depicted a world she wished for; one with harmony, peace, and respect for all creatures sharing our planet. Cruelty did not exist there. I regret losing touch with Mary Ann, but feel so blessed to have known her.

We are deeply saddened to learn recently of Mary Ann's passing and are grateful to her family for sharing so much about her. She was so caring of others. Her years of support and endeavor with our brother Rolf enabled him to sustain a sense of self-value and community that became essential in his last years of life.

Something in my spirit led me to this. I often thought about Mary Ann. She was my patient about 20 years ago as I was transitioning from being an STNA to a nurse. I was her home health aide. She was the first person to expose me to vegan life. Her art interested me. Her love for people, animals, and life in general, were uncompromising. She was kind, yet firm.
