I agree entirely with my brother Rick's sentiments about Mrs. Barnes. A kinder, jollier, better neighbor I cannot imagine, and she always made each of us children feel special. As an adult I marveled at her ability to keep track of so many birthdays over so many years, as witnessed by the timely annual arrival of birthday cards for each family member. She will be greatly missed by all of us who knew her.

Mrs. Mary Barnes live on Indian Creek Drive in her later years. She was always doing something for others, very independent and very cheerful and insistent on taking care of her own life. She was fortunate to live close to Rebecca Peek for the last few months of her life, and she avoided having to go to a nursing home. She loved to sing at the homes in the area as long as she could. Wonderful lady.

I knew and admired Mary from the day they moved next door to us when I was about 6 or 7 years old. Almost from the day she and Chuck moved in we started a weekly ritual of going to their house to watch Walt Disney.The ritual continued through my college years and extended to many celebrated holidays together.
