Mary Ellen Boyer, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, 88, formerly of Tamaqua passed away on Saturday, March 11, at Dock Terrace in Lansdale.
She was the widow of Harold B. "Hal" Boyer who passed away on May 17, 2016.
Born Friday, June 22, 1928 in Millersburg, the daughter of the late John and Mattie (Latshaw) Yeager. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Tana L. (Boyer) Erbe on Aug. 1, 2016.
Mary Ellen taught home economics at the Tamaqua Area Senior High School for over thirty years. She was a 1945 graduate of Millersburg High School, and matriculated to Mansfield State Teachers College earning her degree in education. Mary Ellen was a member of the Hope of Christ Presbyterian Chuch of Summit Hill.
A loving wife, and devoted mother, Mary Ellen enjoyed sewing, baking, and playing cards. She was an ardent PSU football fan.
She is survived by her daughter Jane E. Reagan, wife of Robert J. of Telford, PA; son-in-law Lewis Erbe of Rising Sun, Maryland; grandchildren Lindsay Erbe, Adrienne Phillips, Lewis B. Erbe, Hannah Reagan, and Erin Reagan; and six great grandchildren.
Service: A Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, from the funeral home with the Rev. Kari Olsen to officiate. The family will receive friends on the morning of services from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. of 655 E. Broad St. Tamaqua.
