Not sure what to say?

Dr. Boyling was a wonderful, caring teacher who inspired me to do my best. She will be missed.

I just learned of Dr. Boyling´s passing. I was one of her English major students at Notre Dame from 1970-1974. All of us who had her as our professor loved her and enjoyed our on-campus time with her. She had a huge impact on us. We loved her.

Wonderful teacher

Dr. Mary Ellen Boyling was an enormous part of my education as an English major while at Notre Dame. She mentored me there during my working toward a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and, she was my mentor and thesis reader which awarded me a Masters degree in English Literature. Dr. Boyling was my academic advisor at CND. Had it not been for her, I would never have read Wallace Stegner, who was one of her "readers" for her doctorate. Also, there were several of us English majors who always admired her silver oval "MEB" pin. Rest well, Dr. Boyling. - Margaret Schook Foley

Dr. Boyling was a kind soul. My favorite memories are attending the ND plays during the holidays and touring the beautiful Ralston Hall as a child. She will always be remembered as a wonderful, knowledgeable woman who touched many lives of people all ages.

Dr. Bolying was our neighbor growing up in Belmont. As a kid I remember what a kind person she was, inviting my sisters and me to events at Notre Dame University, and showing us her beautiful garden. I'm glad to read about her background and her passions for English and preserving Ralston Hall.
