Mary Lou grew up on Long Island and attended Dominican High School in New York City. It was here that she met Bruce Cook, a Butte native serving in the U.S. Army and stationed in San Francisco. Not sure what to say?

Mary Lou was an instant best friend when I bought her 'guest house' in Big Sky. I beat a path to her door on a regular basis, sharing meals and wine. I never enjoyed lamb until I had Mary Lou's! We laughed, shared life's challenges and griefs, small town gossip, and travel stories. Some evenings we laughed so hard, we cried. She had a big hearted spirit and generosity and a presence that made you want to be around her. I feel so blessed to have shared part of her life as a neighbor,...

Mary Lou was a wonderful friend when we had a condo in the Village at Big Sky in the 1970s. She was a delightful conversationalist. We spent many hours chatting and laughing surrounded by our children. My kids, Andy and Alexa, were a little younger than Beth and the others. I have great memories of our time with Mary Lou and send my deepest sympathy to the family.

Mary Lou was such a delight to be with. We were neighbors in Big Sky. I'll miss her smile and fascinating tales of her adventures.
