Mary Culler Obituary

Mary Rives Dixon Culler LEXINGTON - Funeral service for Mary Rives Dixon Culler, 94, widow of John C. Culler, Jr., will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Lexington United Methodist Church, 309 East Main Street, Lexington, SC 29072 with interment in Lexington Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Ken Owens assisted by the Rev. Dr. Miyoung Paik will officiate. Pallbearers will be her nephews. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Ladies Bible Class. The family will receive friends at the cemetery after the service. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Mrs. Culler was born in Ridgeway, SC April 14, 1918 and passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013. She was a daughter of the late John Lee Dixon and Leila Rabon Dixon. She was a member of Lexington United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Wednesday Morning Bible Study. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 7 Auxiliary and the Palmetto Chapter of the Wives of American EXPOWS. She was a graduate of Draughon's Business College in Columbia, SC. During the years of World War II, she worked as Secretary to the State Farm Ownership Specialist in Columbia. In 1979 she retired from the South Carolina National Bank, now Wells Fargo. Surviving are son, Dr. John C. Culler III (Judy), daughter, Doris "Dixie" Culler Brown all of Lexington; grandchildren, Jeff Culler (Elizabeth), Jennifer Rhoten Culler (Billy), Mary Going (Martha), Walid Hakim, Rania Hakim Craddock (Zach), Alia Hakim, Corey Brown (Nikki), Ashley Brown (Jane); 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; sisters, Rebecca Harmon of Lexington and Jenny Wren Corley of Greenville. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, John C. Culler, Jr.; brothers, Sam and John Lyles Dixon; sister, Ruth Dixon Nelson and son-in-law, James F. Brown. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to Oakleaf Village Staff and Tidewater Hospice for their exceptional care and loving devotion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Stephen Ministry of Lexington United Methodist Church or the charity of one's choice. www.caughmanharmanfuneralhome.net
