Mary Jane Cunningham
February 21, 1959 ~ November 30, 2025
Sandy, UT-It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Jane Cunningham on November 30th, 2025 surrounded by her family. Mary Jane was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend.
Born February 21, 1959, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Leon Earl Weldon and Cornelia Trientje Weldon. Mary spent her early years in the Canyon Rim area of Salt Lake before meeting the love of her life.
Mary is survived by her husband Richard, (Rick) Cunningham, whom she married July 8, 1977. Their love story of 48 years was filled with shared adventures, mutual respect, and a love of all things Disney. They put down roots in the Sandy, UT area where they raised their sons, Jeremy (Kimberly) Cunningham and Brandon Cunningham.
Mary was so proud to be a grandmother and great grandmother. She and Rick were a tremendous help during the early years of every one of the new babies that came into the family. She leaves behind seven grandchildren Samantha (Moisle) Vicente, Kaydence (Salvador) Sanchez, Mikayla Cunningham, Colton Cunningham, Linkin Cunningham, Mason Cunningham, and Maddison Cunningham; and three great-grandchildren Santiago Vicente, Steele Sanchez, and Koa Vicente, with the fourth, a great granddaughter Sanchez on the way. The joys of camping, road trips, and outdoor outings in Utah will continue to live on in their memories.
Mary is also survived by her brothers Rodney (Crystal) Weldon, Jeff (Jamie) Weldon, and Bernie (Jennifer) Weldon; brother-in-law Mario Anichini; and her sisters Colleen (Terry) Paswaters and Teresa Van Roosendaal. Mary is preceded in death by her father Leon Earl Weldon, mother Cornelia Trientje Weldon, stepmother Erna Weldon, brother Thomas Weldon, and sister Connie Anichini.
Throughout her lifetime, Mary was passionate about the welfare of all animals, especially dogs. For those that wish to honor Mary's memory, donations can be made to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation or your local Humane Society.
No funeral or services will be held. In recognition of Mary's wishes, a celebration of life for family and friends will be announced at a later date.
