Not sure what to say?

Mary was my roommate at Indiana University for three years. She was the wonderful roommate and I loved her dearly. We kept in touch for many years, but when I didn´t hear from her, I knew something was wrong. Anyway she meant a lot to me and I miss her.

My deepest sympathy to all of Mary's family. A former USCG colleague called me today with the sad news that Mary had passed away. She and I became friends when I transferred to Toledo and spent twelve years with the USCG doing port security and oil spill response planning until I retired in 2015 and moved to Tennessee. She certainly kept our various committee meetings lively and I loved it when she called me on any issues along the Maumee River that she thought the USCG should know about! ...

We rented the Sandpiper for my sisters birthday. What wonderful memories they were. Mary will be remembered as a very special lady. Thoughts and prayers being sent to her family.

The Schoonmaker Museum ship caught my attention as that is my surname and I ready about your mom. She sounds like a wonder lady that was a blessing to many. There are not enough like her in this world. Peace with you and your family.

I loved the phone calls I got from Mary. She told me when the bridge navigation lights were out, when the buoys needed attention. She asked really great questions and kept up to speed with all of our bridge projects, especially the MLK bridge and the Anthony Wayne bridge. The bridge mechanics looked forward to a plate of her homemade chocolate chip cookies every spring when they installed her dock. I looked up to her and aspired to be like her. So bold, so vocal, so loving and kind.

I loved Mary's sense of humor and all the special memories she facilitated aboard the Sandpiper. She was a very special woman!
