Mrs. Mary L. (Mardis) Dowdy

Dowdy, age 86, of Benton, KY, died Sunday, March 20, 2011, at Lake Way Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Benton, KY. She was retired from the Marshall County Co-Op where she worked as a seed saleswoman and attended New Harmony Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late James Mardis and the late Nettie (Collins) Nimmo. She is survived by: One Daughter: Debbie Dowdy, Benton, KY; Two Sisters: Pearl Reeder, Benton, KY, Lucille Henson, Benton, KY; One Brother: Arvis Nimmo, Benton, KY; Grandchild: Amy Armstrong; and Great Grandchildren: Nathan Walker and Michael Walker. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Earl Dowdy, and son, Michael Dowdy. Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home, P.O. Box 492, Benton, KY. Funeral service will be at Collier Funeral Chapel at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 23, 2011, Rev. Randy McClure officiating. Interment will follow at Benton Cemetery, Benton, KY. Friends may call the funeral home between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
