I got to know Joe and Mary, when they lived at Quail Run in Agawam. I brought them their medications from the local Rite Aid. Over time, I became aware that I was in the presence of two great American heroes, although they would never say it. Their service to our country during WWII was nothing short of extraordinary. Mary was a wonderful, giving person who's knowledge of plants knew no bounds. She and Joe were great friends with my parents. They are all together now, I'm sure working on Heaven's gardens.
