Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC - Pen Argyl Obituary

Surrounded by her loving family, Mary Eleanor Ehrlich, 79, passed away peacefully at her home in Bangor on Monday, January 31, 2022.  Mrs. Ehrlich is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Caracio of East Bangor and the grand-daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Victor P. Saveri also of East Bangor. Mrs. Ehrlich is a graduate of Pius X High School and Marywood College in Scranton, Pa.  She was married for 48 years to the late Robert F. Ehrlich, who passed away in 2012.

Throughout her life, Mrs. Ehrlich was a devoted housewife and mother. She was also active in several, varied careers: first as a licensed real estate agent, and later as a teacher at Pius X High School.  For many years, she and her husband were avid Bridge players, and she continued this interest after his passing.  She was a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), an intrepid volunteer every year at the Northampton County Elections headquarters, and an enthusiastic member of the Bangor area School District Concerned Citizens. Her interests were varied, but what she loved most was her home, her family and visiting with her friends.

She is survived by her three wonderful sons; Mark V. Ehrlich, William R. Ehrlich and his wife Leigh and Matthew H. Ehrlich, and her dear sister Judyann R. and her husband Ralph W. Finaldi.  She has five beloved grandchildren: Makenna, Max, Olivia, Jillian and Claire. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial for her at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 300 West Babbitt Ave., Pen Argyl on Monday, February 7, 2022 at 11 AM.  Internment will be in the New Catholic Cemetery in Roseto.  All arrangements are being handled by Ruggiero Funeral Home in Pen Argyl. Visitation will be in the gathering space at the church from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the St. Elizabeth’s Church Building Fund.

Not sure what to say?

My most sincere condolences to your family. My thoughts and fervent prayers are with you. Mary El and I remained good friends after meeting at Marywood College in 1960. The fun times enjoyed during our college years were quite memorable. I will not soon forget my dear friend. She was a beauty both in and out. Her infectious laugh was unforgettable. Her kindness and willingness to listen during some tough times was greatly appreciated. She had a kind and generous soul. I will always remember...

I will never forget the comfort I felt visiting her. When she knew I was visiting, she would always stock up on my favorite foods as a kid: pasties and pumpkin pie. She always wanted to be a part of my life and showed me so much love. She was truly an ama

Dear Bill, Mark and Matt: Your Mom was a wonderful lady, whom I adored. She was lovely in every way - always elegant, kind and fun. I remember so many shopping trips with her and my mom, and great conversation over cups of tea at home. Please accept my heart-felt sympathy and prayers for comfort and peace for your entire family.
