My condolences to Mary's family and friends for their loss. She supported the first "Truth Commission"-type project in Guatemala from 1993-1996 with funds that help it collect testimonies from witnesses to war crimes. As founder and director of this project, I will forever remember her courage to trust me and my associates in Guatemala, and will forever be grateful for her vision. I am so sorry to hear of her passing, she is mentioned in a book I am writing about my human rights work in...

I loved Mary. So bright and kind. She was the older sister of my best friend, John Lloyd, who passed away in 1991. This is a photo of Mary at John's and Heidi's wedding at her home in Brentwood.

I was so shocked & saddened to read about Mary in NY Times. I was Marys roommate at Madeira for 3 years. I visited Libertyville several times & drove out west with her & 2 others after our graduation. I have such wonderful memories of the good times we had together. (She introduced me to ice hockey, Black Hawks & Bobby Hull) I was sorry we drifted apart after Madeira. I was also SO very impressed but not surprised by all her accomplishments-a remarkable person! My best to all of you & know...

Mary was unique in her humility, warmth, humor and joy of living. All of her accomplishments were quietly done with grace. In this way, she followed the tradition of both of her parents who also were tireless in their generosity toward others in the arts and in their communities. This family is a blessed gift to us all for in honor for their achievements. Clara Freeman Farah.
