SPRINGFIELD – Mary I. (Carmody) Farquhar, 93, of Springfield passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at the East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center. Born September 3rd, 1923 in Springfield to John T. and Catherine (McCarthy) Carmody, she was raised and lived in Springfield her entire life. She was educated in the parochial school system graduating from the former Sacred Heart High School. Besides raising four children she worked various office jobs and retired from Mercy Hospital. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and getting together with her "crowd" to socialize. Mary was predeceased by her husband James, son Peter and brother John. She is survived by her four children, James (Dawn) of Longmeadow, Kathleen (Ken) Giroux of Rock Hill, SC, John of Chicopee and Paul of Agawam. She also leaves six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA, 01104. A private funeral service is being held today, June 22, 2017, at the Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.
