Mary, was my dear friend having met at the St. Petersburg Times and our friendship went beyond the work environment. She saved me several times at the newspaper and would correct me calling me Linder and I called her Merry. I would say to her "be merry Merry" and we would always be there just in case. Mary was gifted in so many ways: as a pilot, as a writer, as an artist. Years ago when faux painting was in vogue, she painted the plaster pillars in my living room to approximate marble. I will miss her.

I knew Mary through her many years of involvement with the St Petersburg Woman´s Club. She quietly did so much for our Club and our community. Mary was respected and admired by anyone she touched. Mary will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
