Mary was one of the best. Not only did she take care of her immediate family through the years, she went the extra mile in helping her extended family and all her friends. In the early Fifties she inspired me to try to do the same, when during our family crisis she baked a chocolate cake for my little nephew's birthday so he would have something to smile about as his little sister was dying of a brain tumor.
