Mary Jane Gardner May 6, 1924 - May 11, 2014 CASSOPOLIS - Mary Jane Gardner, 90, of Cassopolis, died Sunday, May 11, 2014, in her residence. Mary Jane was born May 6, 1924, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Edward and Dorothy (Thomas) Gardner. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Edward Thomas Gardner, who died during World War II, and James Harrison Gardner. Mary Jane's first passion was her love for God and the spreading of the Gospel. She devoted her life to ministry as a Bible Translator for Wycliffe Translators, serving for over twenty-five years in the Philippines. Mary Jane enjoyed living on her beloved farm, being outside, tending to her garden and feeding the birds. Mary Jane will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by one brother, Fred Gardner of Elkhart; nine nephews; many great-nieces and great nephews; a close co-worker, Ursula Post of New York; and her good friend, Phyllis Toney of Cassopolis. Family and friends will gather Sunday, May 18, 2014, for a Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m. at Cass Fellowship Bible Church, 64016 M-62 South, Cassopolis, with the Reverend Glen Russell officiating, with a meal and a time of fellowship to follow. The family prefers memorials in Mary Jane's memory be made to the mission begun by her brother, Dr. James H. Gardner, Amazing Grace Mission, Post Office Box 289, Dayton, Tennessee 37321.
