Mary Catherine Gillies, nee Hurley, age 80; beloved wife of the late William; loving mother of Marian (Larry) Hatch, Margaret, William, Mary Alice Fallon, Richard (Darlene), John (Linda), Florence, Ruth (Nick) O'Shea, Patricia Carbon and the late Thomas Gillies; fond grandmother of 21, great-grandmother of two; dear sister of William (Jane), Sr. Marian, B.V.M., Rev. John, James (Patricia) and the late Frank (Irene) Hurley. Sister in law of Richard (Ruth) and Charles (the late Mary D.) Gillies; aunt of many. Visitation at Peterson-Bassi Funeral Home/ Gamboney & Son Directors, 6938 W. North Ave.(three blocks east of Harlem) Chicago on Wednesday, March 24, 3 to 9 p.m., and Thursday, 8:30 a.m., until time of prayers at 9:15 a.m., to St. Catherine of Siena-St. Lucy Church, 38 N. Well, I'm pretty late to adding to this page but to the entire Gillies family, my condolences. My buddy Tom's Mom was one of the "coolest" Mom's of all my friends. Kind, caring, understanding, and really very funny! The kind of funny that could only come from the wisdom and experience of being the matriarch to such a large family. I was thinking of Tom tonight (which happens often), and then I thought of Mrs. Gillies ( I only met Mr. Gillies a couple of times because his work schedule...
