Mary Patricia Healey, 78, of Lincoln, RI, passed away on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2025, at the Holiday retirement home in Manville. Born on July 1st at Memorial Hospital, she was the daughter of Dr. James Healey and Stella (Maillet) Healey of Central Falls. Pat worked as a Nurse helping others in healthcare for many years prior to retiring.
She is survived by her siblings; James Healey (partner Haver Hunter), Daniel Healey (Cheryl), Catherine Healey, Jean Healey, Susan Healey, and Ann Barber (Phillip). Pat was the loving aunt to Kathleen Dubuque(Donald) and Jennifer Bernier( Michael)as well as Daniel Healey( Erin) . She was the great aunt to Zachary and Morgan Bernier and Jamie and Teddy Healey. Pat was the sister to the late David Healey.
Pat went to Central Falls High School, Class of 1964 and went to the Holy Ghost School of Nursing Cambridge, MA. She graduated with an LPN in Nursing and began her nursing career of 44 years at Memorial Hospital. She worked mostly in the medical surgical floors as well as ICU. She returned to CCRI and Salve Regina College and received her RN. She was a beloved nurse to many patients. Pat always loved nursing and excelled in it with her special touch of humor and wit.
Pat loved her friends, family and had a special bond with all her nieces and nephews. She was the ‘fun aunt.” She admired Martha Stewart and her lemon squares. She always had her finger on the pulse and gossip of the day. She loved casinos, coca cola, chocolate and especially Opera. Life made a turn in her last four years of life, when she needed to become a full time resident of the Holiday Retirement Home in Manville. She won the hearts of the staff with her delightful humor and tremendous knowledge of old and new movies and television. She rarely left her room but found a whole new group of staff friends who shared their dreams, ambitions and pain with her. She always listened to them intently and encouraged many to return to school to become RN’s. She loved them all!!
The nursing home dedicated a special room with a plaque on the door reading the Mary Healey Educational Center, there they train future care givers.The staff cared for her her and all her family in a very special way. It became her second home.
Pat will be missed terribly by her family and everyone who knew her.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 14th at 11:00 AM at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 191 School St, Albion, RI. Visiting hours will be on Friday, June 13th from 4:00 - 6:00 PM in the O’Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will be private.
