HINTON, Mary Forrester, 89, of Browns Store, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Rappahannock General Hospital after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Warren Hinton. Miss Mary, as she was known to many, was born August 11, 1918 in Sampsons Wharf to Achsah Marsh Forrester and Summie Fillmore Forrester. Following the death of her father, she and her mother relocated to Browns Store, where she resided until her death. Miss Mary, was a lifelong member of Providence Baptist Church in Miskimon, where she served as Sunday School teacher, choir member, deaconess and a member of many committees over the years. As anyone who knew Miss Mary could tell you, she loved working outside in her yard and her flowers and raising a big garden. It was not unusual for her to stay outside until dark picking vegetables, many of which were taken to friends and neighbors. She was also well known for her generosity and willingness to help others in need. She had many friends on Mid-County Rescue Squad who transported her to RGH on several occasions in her later years. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Rebekah Hinton Haynie and Robert Michael Haynie; several nieces and nephews, many cousins, friends; and her devoted pet, Missy. She also had two devoted friends and caregivers, Thressa Lewis and Betty B. George, who helped care for her at home and during previous hospital visits. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at Providence Baptist Church, Miskimon, with interment in the church cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. Memorials may be made to Mid-County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 355, Heathsville, Va. 22473.
