Not sure what to say?

Mary Holliman published my first book (Beyond Their Dreams) and included me in a NYC reading event she held thereafter. Her encouragement has led to my publishing three subsequent books of poetry. I think of her often with appreciation and gratitude. Mildred J. Nash

Mary, though you have passed, what you have contributed is here and always will be. Your honorable dignity and carefully considered fair-minded decisions and advisories have lastingly enriched and informed public life here and are beautiful and encouraging to remember.

Mary published my first book of poetry many years ago--and we kept in touch from then on (including a wonderful "Small Press Bookfair" weekend in New York City, at which she had arranged for me to read). Our last phone conversation--in late June--she was busily checking to see the status of my STARS FOR STARTERS, A Night Sky Poetry Guide, which she'd wanted to publish. Mary lived her life to the fullest! She not only strove for peace and justice, but also wanted everyone to reach their full potential; thank God for Mary and many blessings to her family...

Her energy was legendary in accomplishing whatever the task at hand. She was faithful to her family in many ways , but also faithful to her deep sense of what was right and wrong in this world. She often made good on her beliefs through action. Vivacious to a fault it is hard to imagine that she was passed...

Mary was a wonderful ,giving and patient person. She was one of a kind. We will miss her greatly.

Aunt Mary was like a second mother to me. She inspired me to write, draw and to believe that I can do anything I put my mind to. It is because of her that I am now a published poet. I love you Aunt Mary! We will miss you!

Our thoughts and prayers are with cousin Mary's family. We will all miss her.

I worked with Mary as part of the Valley Interfaith Child Care Center board. She cared deeply about that effort and used her many skills as a writer and publisher to help 'move it along'. She made so many contributions to the Blacksburg community. She will be missed.
