Read MoreI´m grateful to have had lunch with my friend and former client, Mary Hopper, before she died. I had not seen her in person for a long time before that. She was as sharp as ever, and of course, she had many opinions about the upcoming Mecklenburg County election. I miss Mary´s daily emails and our back-and-forth text chats about Jeopardy! contestants.

Mary proved time and again that she was a Charlotte treasure. She voiced her opinion with trustworthy information, followed her beliefs and goals unwaveringly, engaged with energy and kindness. I always enjoyed being in her company and will miss her. Our sympathy goes out to her family.
