Mary Nell Spears Horton

Sept. 4, 1929 - April 27, 2017 Mary Nell Spears Horton, 87, a resident of Huntsville, Alabama died peacefully at a Huntsville Hospital on April 27, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was a retired nurse from Huntsville Hospital. She received her Nursing Degree from Charity Nursing School, New Orleans, Louisiana. She was a native of Oxford, Alabama. Mary Nell was preceded in death by her husband, John Arvil Horton. Survivors include her son, Pete (Myra Meeks) Horton of Gulf Shores, Alabama; daughter, Penny (Cecil) Moses of Mulberry, Tennessee; grandson, Ryan Jones of Birmingham, Alabama; granddaughters, Sara Jane (Jeff) Roe, Melissa Addie Horton and great grandson, John Cooper Roe, all of Huntsville, Alabama. Ms. Horton was a long-time member of Pineview Baptist Church, Huntsville, Alabama. Her service will be on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home in Madison with Rev. Billy Langford officiating. Burial will follow in the Huntsville Memory Gardens Cemetery with Father Jason Scott Terhune officiating. The family will receive friends starting at 12:00 pm until service time.
