Housewright, Mary LuCinda (Cinda) Mary LuCinda (Cinda) was born on June 15, 1936, to Willie M. and Ruth Brooks in the rural farming community of Dump, Texas, aka St. Paul. While growing up on the farm,Cinda became an accomplished pianist who often played for services at her home church, Lucas Christian. She attended Wylie High School where she participated in numerous extra-curricular activities, including cheerleading and the drill team. She was a stellar student, skipping her junior year. As a senior, she starred in the senior play, "Aunt Samantha Rules the Roost," in which Aunt Samantha falls in love with a roving bachelor played by Glen Housewright. Their romance carried off stage and they were married on July 17, 1953. Family was Cinda's top priority all of her life. Cinda and Glen had three children, Gwendolyn (stillborn at birth), Danny and Joanie. Cinda was a big supporter of her kids' activities, whether baking cookies as a room mother, working the concession stand as a Band Booster, cooking s'mores as a Girl Scout Troop leader, or driving part of the freshman basketball team to a tournament. She enjoyed nothing more than cooking in her kitchen, working in her yard, and cleaning her house. Asked what she wanted for Mother's Day or her birthday, and her answer would always be, "I just want my kids to come and eat." Cinda worked as the secretary to the principal at Wylie High School for twenty years. She developed long-lasting relationships with many of her co-workers. After retiring in 1991, she received cards from past teachers. Far from retiring,Cinda traveled the USA with Glen, spending the night in every state by the time they were through. She never followed the latest fads, had no interest in computer technology or "i-anything." But she could make a beautiful quilt, beat you in 42 (dominoes), and bake the best chocolate pie you ever ate. On July 18, 2013, Cinda went to be with the Lord after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Cinda will be missed by her husband of sixty years, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 21 2013 at First Christian Church, 701 E. Stone Road, Wylie, TX 75098. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013 at AllenFuneral Home, 508 Masters, Wylie, Texas.
